Solstice Pinot Gris 2015

Background

Solstice Pinot Gris is made from the oldest vines grown in the Suncrest Vineyard in Okanagan Centre. The vineyard's proximity to Okanagan Lake provides a moderating effect on the temperature and extends the growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and gain complexity. The wine was fermented and aged in acacia wood and neutral French oak puncheons. Partial malo-lactic fermentation and lees stirring were used to naturally enhance texture and extract.

Tasting Notes

A nuanced, dry wine featuring floral, apple, pear and vanilla flavours. The natural acidity and mineral-like extract of the old vines is balanced by the creaminess and richness imparted by the wood and lees aging. It is a complex, dry wine that is best enjoyed with dinner.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Creamy pasta dishes with chicken or salmon, potato gratin with caramelized onions and roasted vegetables. Pairs well with soft and semi-hard cheeses.
