BackgroundThe grapes for our Merlot are grown in the Suncrest Vineyard in Okanagan Centre. The vines were planted in 1998 on a steep, westerly slope in very coarse and rocky soil. For a grape like Merlot, this is essentially a warm site in a cool region. It yields an elegant, medium-bodied food wine with lovely blackberry, blackcurrant and floral notes.
Blackberry, blackcurrant, violet and cedar aromas are complemented by an undertone of vanilla and chocolate. It is medium bodied with a fine acidity and tannin structure that make this wine pair nicely with braised chicken, roasted duck or lamb, baked pasta dishes and charcuterie.
