Pinot Gris 2018
Pinot Gris 2018
The grapes for our Pinot Gris are grown in scenic Lake Country, nestled between Wood Lake, Kalamalka Lake and the northern part of Okanagan Lake. The lakes moderate the often extreme temperatures experienced in the Okanagan, making this area especially suitable for the pinot varieties. The growing season stays frost-free until late fall, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and produce subtle flavours while retaining plenty of natural acidity. The grapes are hand harvested and whole-cluster pressed or crushed/pressed depending on the ripeness and the degree of extraction desired. The fermentation is done mostly in stainless steel tanks with added yeast. 10% of the wine is allowed to undergo a natural fermentation in neutral barrels with no added yeast. The wine is aged on the lees for three months before filtration and bottling.
Ripe apple, pear, peach and delicate floral aromas. The palate shows good minerality and extract, with refreshing acidity and fruit flavour on the finish.
Awards & Reviews
Gold - 2019 National Wine Awards of Canada
92 Points - ”Lovely sweet herbal and ripe fruit pinot gris of higher aromatics than many and most of similar ilk and class. Does everything it can and should, meaning it delivers cool ideals, floral blossoms, honeysuckle and bright fruit. Really reminds me of good grillo from the heart of Sicily. It’s uncanny really. Who wouldn’t enjoy a chilled glass of this fresh fruit cup? Drink 2019-2022. Tasted blind at NWAC19, June 2019.” -Review by Michael Godel, WineAlign
