About the 2020 Guide to Canada’s Best Wines:
“We asked Canada’s wineries to pre-select what they deemed to be their best wines, and send them to our Toronto office for tasting by five Ontario WineAlign judges and critics. We received 850 wines in 15 categories, and tasted them – physically distanced – over a five-week period in October and November.  The results will be published every week for 4 weeks in November as a Guide to Canada’s Best Wines, with every wine fully reviewed by at least three critics at WineAlign."

Zweigelt 2018
Top 10 Winner, Other Red Varieties Category
Top Value Winner

”The always reliable and great value Zweigelt from Arrowleaf does not fail to disappoint. Displaying a nose of intense red cherry and berry aromas with a spicy and slightly smoky baked apple note on the palate. Dry and medium bodied with soft tannins and good fruit concentration. A long red fruit finish.”

Pinot Noir 2018
Top 10 Winner, Pinot Noir Category
Open and both fruity and savoury, Arrowleaf's 2018 pinot noir finds a good balance between bright, ripe, red berry fruit, dried earth, black pepper and leaves, and gentle barrel spice. The palate is equally well measured, with delicate, fine-grained tannins and lively acids, and very good length. A classy and well-proportioned wine all around, ready to drink now or hold until the mid-'20s.”

Archive Pinot Noir 2017
Award Winner, Top Pinot Noir Category
”Ripe, dark and fruity pinot here, all black cherry and scorched earth, simple but engaging. The palate is crisp and juicy, with more acids than tannins but in harmony nonetheless. Plump, fruity finish of decent length. Well done for the price I must say, varietally accurate and enjoyable. Chill lightly and drink over the next 2-3 years.

Wildblume 2019
Award Winner, Top Sparkling Category
Top Value Winner
Wildblume is more than apropos because this is floral and actually smells like fresh picked blueberries. Expect lemon and pear aromas and flavours. The balance is terrific, so is the flavour intensity. Almost steely and clean as a whistle.”

Summerstorm 2019
Award Winner, Top Sparkling Category
Nearly day glo pink and nice aromatics, of red current and pink peppercorn. There is a rhubarb note here. It is light, very stony and tart, like a red berry mignonette atop a salty oyster. Very cleansing, almost saline, and perhaps too brisk for some.”
