Chardonnay 2024 (Moon Series)

CA$26.10

What it is
Moon Series wines are crafted from grapes sourced outside of British Columbia. Following devastating crop losses in our home province in 2024, importing fruit allowed us to both address the shortfall and explore new possibilities.

Where it was grown
The grapes were grown at Grimsby Hillside Vineyard in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation of Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula.

When it was grown
The 2024 growing season in Niagara began with a mild winter and an early spring, with budbreak in Lincoln Lakeshore occurring up to two weeks ahead of normal. Summer conditions were warm and very humid, requiring additional leaf removal and fruit thinning in the vineyard. The latter part of the season turned dry and sunny, creating ideal conditions for Chardonnay to ripen fully.

How it was made
The grapes were pressed in Ontario, with the juice refrigerated and shipped to British Columbia. Upon arrival, it was inoculated with yeast and fermented in our cellar. The wine was then aged for nine months in 500L French oak puncheons, with a portion undergoing malolactic fermentation.

How it tastes
The nose shows notes of peach, apricot, nutmeg, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry with fresh acidity, leading to a finish marked by subtle oak and spice.
