Field Collection White 2024
What it is
The 2024 Field Collection is an aromatic blend of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer
Where it was grown
In the Lake Country region of the Okanagan Valley. Grapes were sourced from Wendell, Ritchie and Arrowleaf Estate Vineyards.
When it was grown
The 2024 vintage is one that mostly wasn’t. An arctic outflow event in mid-January caused temperatures to plummet to -25.5°C in our vineyards. Most of the fruitful buds on the vines were destroyed and a lot of vines died as a result. Some varieties fared better than others and we were able to harvest a small crop of locally grown grapes. The growing season itself was on the cool side and the grapes retained a high degree of natural acidity. We spent much of the growing season rehabilitating our vines and getting them ready for a more fruitful vintage in 2025.
How it was made
Riesling provides the base of the blend with 85% of the volume with Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer making up the rest in roughly equal parts. It’s a reflection of how the grapes fared in the vineyard. Riesling proved itself to be much hardier than the rest of the varieties we grow, allowing us to harvest a decent sized crop. It provides most of the flavours and freshness to the blend while the Gewurztraminer adds some light tropical notes.
How it tastes
This aromatic blend shows loads of lemon, lime, grapefruit and tropical fruit. On the palate it is fresh and tangy with a touch of residual sugar to balance the high natural acidity. Ideal to enjoy on its own, as an aperitif or with light, summer meals.🌱 Vegan Wine
