Field Collection 2022 (Red)

CA$27.10

What it is
A barrel-aged blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Pinot Noir.

Where it was grown
Vineyards located in Lake Country and Summerland

When it was grown
The story of the 2022 growing season started with a blast of arctic air in late December 2021. The cold weather damaged some buds on the vines, reducing their potential yields. The spring was cool and damp, which delayed budbreak and suggested it was going to be a short growing season. Summer was hot and dry, but the highlight of the growing season was the fall, which felt more like an extension of summer. It was a phenomenal stretch of warm and dry weather that lasted through most of October. The extended season coupled with low yields produced grapes of excellent quality.

How it was made
The Merlot and Pinot Noir components were harvested and fermented separately. The Merlot was given a long maceration time of 30 days for a bold tannin and flavour expression. It was blended with very ripe, fruit-forward Pinot Noir and aged for 12 months in American oak and Eastern European oak.

How it tastes
Aromas of blackberry, birchbark, eucalyptus and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied on the palate with ample fruit concentration and well integrated oak and tannins on the finish. 🌱Vegan Wine
