Summerstorm 2024

CA$28.10

Release Date: June 21, 2025

What it is
Summerstorm is a unique rosé sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir and Zweigelt grapes using the Charmat method (méthode cuvée close).

Where it was grown
Primarily grown at Friesen/Croft vineyard and Arrowleaf Estate Vineyard and includes small contributions by Ritchie Vineyard and Wendell Vineyard, all located in Lake Country, BC.

When it was grown
The 2024 vintage is one that mostly wasn’t. An arctic outflow event in mid-January caused temperatures to plummet to -25.5°C in our vineyards. Most of the fruitful buds on the vines were destroyed and a lot of vines died as a result. Some varieties fared better than others and we were able to harvest a small crop of locally grown grapes. The growing season itself was on the cool side and the grapes retained a high degree of natural acidity. We spent much of the growing season rehabilitating our vines and getting them ready for a more fruitful vintage in 2025.

How it was made
Due to the grape shortage, we have introduced Pinot Noir to what has previously been a wine made with Zweigelt grapes.  Gentle, whole cluster pressing was used to extract a small amount of colour. The base wine was fermented dry and aged in neutral oak puncheons for 6 months. After the initial aging period, the wine was transferred to a pressure tank and inoculated with yeast and sugar to initiate the secondary fermentation. The lees in the tank were stirred regularly to provide more harmonious integration of the bubbles. The wine was filtered and a dosage was added for the desired sweetness before bottling.

How it tastes
Clean and fresh with aromas of strawberry, rhubarb, grapefruit and wild rose. On the palate the brut-level sweetness provides balance to the acidity and minerality. The finely integrated bubbles add length to the finish. It’s a sparkling wine ideal for a summer celebration. 🌱 Vegan Wine
