Piquette Red 2023

CA$15.10
Sold Out

Released: August 9, 2024

A lightly fizzy, low alcohol beverage that sips like a hybrid of wine and seltzer.

Piquette is technically not wine since it’s not made from fermented grape juice. Instead, it’s made by adding water to pressed grape skins and fermenting what’s left of the sugars. The result is a fun, lightly fizzy and low alcohol beverage that sips like a hybrid of wine and seltzer.

After the juice was pressed from our Pinot Noir and Zweigelt grapes, we transferred the grape skins, known as pomace, into a new vat and added water back to it. Fermentation took place while the water extracted the remaining sugar, flavour and aromas from the grape skins. Instead of going straight into bottles like some piquettes, we aged ours for about 6 months in neutral oak barrels. From there it was transferred into a pressure tank for a second fermentation, producing carbonation the same way as in our Charmat method sparkling wines. A polishing filtration was used to showcase the beautiful red colour of this sparkling piquette.

This spritzy, refreshing summer drink is bursting with blackberry, raspberry and cherry aromas. On the palate it is dry and has a tangy finish. The low alcohol content is similar to beer or cider and offers an alternative for those looking to try something new.

Off-Dry
5% Alcohol
Drink while young and fresh. Do not age.

Ingredients: Pinot Noir and Zweigelt pomace (62%/38%), filtered water, sugar, yeast, tartaric acid, sulphites
